Hi All,

Thanks for surviving a very hot weekend at DanceRave. It was a long weekend for many of you, especially those that also went to Sleeping Beauty rehearsals this weekend. You did a fantastic job and I saw some of your best dancing ever. I wish that I had a “before” and “after” video/picture of all of you because you have all grown so much as a dancer this past year. Your technique and more importantly, passion for dance, have amazed me this season. You have to be extremely proud of your growth this year. Please remember that no award can replace the joy you get from dancing. Yes it is nice to get a high award but what really matters is the fun you have when you are dancing and I can tell you that you bring smiles to me, your parents and others.

I have to say that DanceRave was a bit disorganized and since this was a new venue for them, I know it was difficult for them. When I went to pick up CDs and score sheets, they were not ready. The gentlemen had to burn our critique CD and then he burned another studios so I had to wait for him to burn the correct one. To further add, I have our critique CD but have no idea what program to open it. I tried to open it with a few programs but without luck. I have your score sheets and will bring them to the studio on Monday. They will be in a plastic bag on the PC bulletin board and all soloists can take their score sheets. I didn’t completely agree with the scoring that was was given to some of our dances but that’s just the way it goes with these particular judges. Please remember that each and every judge and competition is different and you will never ever get the same score from one competition to another. All that really matters is your love for dance.

Thanks to the Seniors who stayed for awards at such a late time: Alyssa, Mercedes, Tina, Jessica, Mari, Emily and Olivia (did I miss someone?) and for helping me with the Blue Light bench and chairs.

Thanks to everyone for surviving the sauna-like conditions at DanceRave today. It certainly was hot but everyone did a fantastic job, as usual. Although DanceRave is going to try and remedy the hot conditions, they can’t guarantee that the air conditioning will be fixed. Sunday is supposed to be hotter and there will be a lot more people. Here are some tips for tomorrow:

• Bring your own water. DanceRave only had warm sodas to sell. An icechest would be a great idea.
• Bring a spray bottle fan if you have one.
• Park in the parking lot along 31st Ave. It is closest to the auditorium.
• Hillsdale Shopping Center is very close by. You just take 31st Ave. towards El Camino and you will run right into it.
• There is also a strip mall (Laurelwood Ceinter) close by with the Jamba Juice, Piazza’s, Rite Aid, McDonalds, Round Table, Subway and more. You get to Hillsdale Blvd. and go west (right from the high school) and you’ll run right into it.
• The girls dressing room is the big gym across the hallway from the auditorium so there is plenty of room to stretch and run through dances although you need be careful because the floor is slippery. We especially need to run through Blue Light and Can Can so please meet in the gym at 5:30 to run through those dances.

The results from today have been posted under Events so please take a look when you get a chance. Congratulations to everyone!

IMPORTANT – Memorial Service for JP Blanchard CHANGED!!!

Partly out of concern that there would be too many people at the funeral ceremony on Saturday morning, we have been spreading the word that the Public Celebration of the Life of JP will now be held at Mitchell Park Community Center on Middlefield Road on Saturday, May 9th, from 12-2pm.

• One card for Isabelle from the Mini Team (can sign at Friday’s team class)

• Two cards for the whole family. You can sign either one. I bought two because I thought we’d run out of room with only one.

I know many of you have already sent cards but please sign these again if you can.

Thank you also for all your generous offerings to help. At this time, the Blanchard family does not need help with meals. Mitsu and I will work together to think of other ways to help the family in the coming months.

Hi Everyone,

The Services for the Blanchard family will be held on Saturday therefore we will be cancelling ALL rehearsals on Saturday May 9th.   Please use this day to keep their family in your thoughts and spending time with your loved ones.

We will use May 30th as the last and only rehearsal for production and will be reviewing the team dances during team classes so please make an effort to be there.

Hi Everyone,

Here are some updates.  PLEASE READ EVERYTHING:

1. End of the year evaluations- There is a sign up sheet in the window of L5 to sign up for your evaluations.  This is for Mini, Jr, Teen and SR team.  Understudies for mini team as well.

2.Pirate costumes-You get to create your own.  Anything black and white…Please get creative.  The more creative you are the better the dance and think PIRATE….  We will be wearing black jazz shoes.  All “big kids” in the production will be earing an eye patch and all the “little kids” will be wearing a hat that Tami and Bethany will provide.  We will also be providing teams with an accent which will represent each team….we will hand those out on Saturday May 30th.  PLEASE BRING YOUR PRIVATE COSTUME ON MAY 30TH.  PLEASE WEAR THE COSTUME…

Hi All,

A big shout out to all the May Fete and Town Faire dancers. You were fantastic and the Town Faire performances certainly were a highlight of the whole morning. You captivated the audience and as I was standing by with the music, I heard a few great comments from people on the sidelines. I could also see all the smiles from the audiences faces from where I was standing. I know they were truly impressed with you. Thanks for dancing in the rain and on wet concrete!

A note of the tie dye shirts – You should wash them separately in cold water. The dye could still bleed so you don’t want to put it in with anything else.

Thanks always to all the parents that help and especially to Geri fo keeping me sane and keeping track of all the details that I forget or can’t get to and to Katrina for pulling the infamous May Fete Parade green wagon of mine (I guess the old kids toys still come in handy). Susan Bailey plays a huge part in the whole Town Faire so please thank her for letting us participate and organzing it all.

See you at production rehearsal later today.

We will have some dancers at the Spotlight Dance Cup next weekend so although they may miss the production rehearsal next week, we know they will be dancing up a storm on the stage at Spotlight.

TAMJAMS! 2009

What a fantastic weekend of dancing with the TAMJAMS! crew. We hope you enjoyed dancing as much as we enjoyed watching you. You worked and danced your hearts out and your dancing was amazing. Please go to the TAMJAMS! website and let Tamara and crew know how much you enjoyed the weekend.

• Hot & Cold Dancers (Advanced room): We are going to try and put this dance in one of the shows. Tina Campos is using this song for her Jazz 3A class so we can’t perform it the same night they are doing it. We are thinking about putting it in the Sunday Kinder/Elementary show. We’ll keep you posted on this.

Friends Fiesta

We had a fantastic group of dancers who performed at the annual Friends Fiesta before they headed over to TAMJAMS! Although dancing in a parking lot with uneven pavement is not ideal, you did a great job. Extra applause goes to Charlee for dancing when the music stopped playing. Thanks to the Tina W., Melanie G., Josh, Emma S., Emma W., Bella, Charlee, Caroline E., Dara, Neta, Caroline B. and Naomi.

May Fete Parade 2009 (it has been update as of 4/29/09)

Go to Events and look at the information for the May Fete Parade this weekend. It contains all the information you need for the weekend. We have a Friday rehearsal from 4:00-5:15ish. If everyone is on time, we can get done by 5:00 or 5:15 versus the original 5:30 end time we had.

Production Rehearsal Change for Sunday, May 3rd!!!

We have changed the rehearsal time for this day as follows:

• 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. GROUP 1
• 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. GROUP 2
• 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. – GROUP 3

Please make a note of this and remember each group has different choreography so you can’t come to a different group. Sleeping Beauty has rehearsal beginning at 3:00 so there is no longer a conflict.

May 9th Rehearsal

Rehearsal on May 9th stays the same. For those of you who may miss the May 9threhearsal for Spotlight, please try to get another dancer to understudy your Production/Pirate role for you. It really helps us and everyone else out. We will be rehearsing for DanceRave after the production rehearsal. We have not run some pieces for quite a while so it will be important to do this (Blue Light, Idol, etc.)

We’re heading into the home stretch with lots happening. Hang in there!!!
