Dance Connection Performing Company 2008/2009
Convention and Competition Overview (revised 9/10/08)
For first-timers, this could be a bit overwhelming so please ask us and other team members questions as they arise. Please take a look at the respective convention websites to familiarize yourself with the rules, requirements and regulations. In general, they are all very similar but each convention will differ slightly in naming categories, divisions, costs, etc. Schedules are generally not posted until the week of the convention/competition and some schedules are not available until the day of the competition SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME WHAT THE SCHEDULE IS! I send out the schedule as quickly as I can and you can also check the webistes yourself for the latest information. In some cases you might beat me to the schedule if you check the website before I do. Workshops are generally two days (Saturday and Sunday) unless a special one-day convention is available. Parents must purchase an Observer band to gain access to the dance floors, however, most competitions are free and open to the general public.
Notes:
-
Ages of students listed for each particular level are a guidelines only. A student may be placed in any category, unless specifically noted.
-
Hotel rates are for those wishing to book a room
-
Tami will be booking rooms for each team
-
-
Double check the host websites for accurate information as I often do most of my work late at night and don’t have anyone to proofread my work!
-
You may see some differences in deadline dates for payment due. I need a minimum of one-week (and prefer two weeks) to process all paperwork and payment from you so your payment deadlines and late fees will be earlier than the ones posted at the host websites. Please pay on time! This will save us all time and money in the long run.
-
For the weekend workshop/competitions, you must be registered in the workshop to participate in the competition. You may not just pay the competition fees.
Emails will be sent out for a specific event as we get closer to the time to remind everyone about payments.
