As dancers on a performing team, you already know about these notes but remember that they apply to just about everything you do. Feel free to share these with others and add to the list.


  • Have a “winning attitude”.

  • Try hard and do your best at ALL times.

  • Respect others dancers.

  • Don’t brag, gossip or make fun of team members or any other dancers.

  • Set a good example.

  • Be kind. Kindness goes a long way.

  • Treat others as you would like to be treated.

  • Talk to a teacher and/or your parents if you have any problems/issues.

  • Don’t give up. You have good days and bad days. Remember that you have plenty of opportunities ahead of you.

  • Make mistakes. Why? Because you learn a lot from them.

  • Take care of your health by eating well and getting needed sleep.

  • Do your best in school.

  • Respect your teachers, faculty members and parents.
  • Wear your DC team warm up suit with pride.  You worked hard to get here….enjoy it!
  • You get more with honey than vinegar…meaning BE NICE!!  You get more by being nice.

    • Experience and skill in a number of dance forms, especially the one represented by the choreographer
    • Interest in the arts and a great desire to dance
    • Strong, healthy body, with a practical regard for joint action
    • Broad perceptual field and an open mind
    • Lots of energy, courage, patience and strength
    • Ability to cooperate and get along with others
    • Take criticism and suggestions easily
    • Move with conviction and projection
    • Have time and energy for rehearsals and a willingness to work
    • Ability to move with urgency and passion

  • RESPECT: Ways to be respectful during class/conventions:
    • Do not talk unless spoken to
    • Raise your hand if you have a question
    • Do not play around.  FOCUS…..
    • If you need water, you do not have to ask
    • If you can’t get the step, keep trying.
    • No sitting during class, unless you are observing.
    • Always give 100%++++++++++
