Dance Connection Performing Company 2009/2010
Dear Dancer and Parents:
Congratulations! You have been selected, by audition, to be part of the Dance Connection (Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior) Performing Company 2008/2009. Thank you for participating in our first-ever Performing Company audition. This will be a new and exciting Performing Company year.
You should be proud of your past accomplishments in dance and encouraged and motivated for what you have yet to achieve. This group will be lead by Tami Burton as Artistic Director and Assistant Director, Bethany LoCascio, along with the assistance of our whole teaching staff. We are committed to developing you as a dancer, and as a healthy, responsible and productive member of our community. If you choose to be a member of this team, we do not want to underestimate what type of commitment this means. It’s huge! You will be asked to give your best effort, time and financial commitment as well. We will expect a lot out of you. If you are committed to the team, we will be committed to you.
Although we do our best to keep costs down, there will be unavoidable costs involved with becoming part of the team. As a member of the Performing Company, you pay a yearly fee of $125 (to cover team costs) plus a monthly Performing Company tuition rate of $152 per month (Teen/Junior/Senior) or $124 per month (Mini). This tuition rate covers your team
Dancers who wish to accept a position in the Performing Company must meet the following criteria:

Maintain good grades in school and good work and study habits

Ability to manage your time to get school work done and not interfere with dance classes and rehearsals

Attend all rehearsals. Attached is your 08-09 schedule. You must initial next to every date to verify your participation

Demonstrate exceptional effort, display a good mental attitude and set a good example for the whole studio

Be responsible; this means knowing what’s going on and finding out what’s going on if you don’t know

Must love to perform and have fun!

Register for the TamJams Workshop, as well as all scheduled workshops and competitions (see Rehearsal Schedule and Events and 2008/9 Convention and Competition Overview for more details)
In addition to meeting the above criteria, please remember that it is an honor, privilege and achievement to be a part of this team and that any misconduct could revoke your participation. Your participation with the team is through August of 2009. Dancers are expected to be responsible, dedicated, considerate, disciplined, respectful, humble, motivated and happy. Not only is it important to have a good group of dancers, it is equally or more important to have a great team of individuals.
*We strive to teach professionalism and hope these changes can make you a stronger person and performer.
*It is essential for you to initial next to every date on the calendar acknowledging you are aware of the dates. If there is a date you can NOT attend please do NOT initial and let us know your conflict. This will result in an EXCUSED absence. Any rehearsal you miss and WAS initialed (unless otherwise advised) will result in an UNEXCUSED absence. Two unexcused absences will result in chores picked by the Directors. Two more unexcused absences AFTER that, will result in removal from the team.
*Probation – Inappropriate behavior in class, rehearsal or convention (or anywhere) will not be tolerated. If such behavior is reported to us by your teachers you will be put on probation. This means that you may be removed from a piece and be an understudy. The probation period is set by the Directors and will be monitored by all Dance Connection Faculty.
We may be adding specialty pieces so that members from all teams get an opportunity to dance together. This, of course, requires more work and additional rehearsals that are not reflected on the current calendar. We realize this is even more commitment but hope that the benefits are great and that you truly enjoy the added opportunity to shine and show your talents dancing with each other. Before you accept the specialty piece, make sure you can commit to the extra rehearsals. Please keep in mind that there will be last minute rehearsals that we HOPE you can make arrangements to attend.

- We will be taking measurements of all dancers at the first meeting, rehearsal or class for the warm-up suit and costumes to come
